Today I made myself one happy camper. First, I unexpectedly got one of my disability checks in the mail (I thought it wouldn’t be coming until the end of this week). After I got picked up by Bill, I had him take me straight to the bank. When I first started getting my checks, I immediately opened a “Do Not Touch” savings account for myself to start building on while I go through treatment. That way, I have some $$ for me to land on when I can begin working again, and also go visit my family in England when I finally get the ok to travel like that.
Yes, England. Believe me, you have no clue how hard it is to go through this while being that far away from some of the people you’re closest to. Better believe I deserve it. Besides, I haven’t been in a few years now. I think it’s about time I went again.
Now for what I’m excited about. In the last 2 years, I have had 2 beach cruisers stolen from me. The first time, I had biked up to Long Beach and while I was laying out, someone cut the lock and stole the bike. The second time, I was at College Group for church, and I had my bike right outside the back door. Granted it wasn’t locked up as it should’ve been, but it was literally right outside the back door (which was wide open) and College Group had been right in that back room. Yet someone had the gall to walk right up and steal my bike (let alone steal from the property grounds of a church). I’ve missed having a bike, and quite frankly, I need one to get around. Yes, even in my state of health, it’s good for me to have my own way around (and a reason to get out of the house). For those curious, I do have a driver’s license….however it’s suspended, and regardless with the medications I’m currently on, it’s not safe for me to drive anyway.
Here is a pic of my brand new beach cruiser which I now currently have on lay-away. I purchased it from Jax Bicycles in downtown Huntington Beach:

Of course once I finish paying for it (I really didn’t want to spend $477+ at once), I’m going to buy a lock with it. A super industrial lock, of course, one you can’t cut through. However I did want to secure the bike, as well as the basket, matching 3-shades-of-blue soft basket liner, dinging bell with a matching Hawaiian flower in pink and of course the ever-necessary cup holder for my beloved Starbucks coffees with it. Once it’s all put together, decked out and home with me, I’ll post another pic. In the meantime, here’s a close-up of the cute print in the front:

Lastly, I treated myself to some Starbucks tonight. It was sort of a last minute thing. Bill, Dennis and I made the stop at my request, and I was super stoked that I had a chance to see Dennis at all (I hadn’t seen either him or Bill since I was hospitalized the first time). While I was there, I bought myself a new tea mug for my nightly cup of tea. There was one last box left of my absolute favorite tea, the Tazo Passion herbal infusion tea, so I totally had to snag that. Of course I also had to get a white chocolate mocha, decaf of course because there’s no reason for me to be wired at 9pm. Here are some more of today’s purchased treats:

All in all, I think it was a really good day for me. Got myself some treats, had fun with my friends plus I still have dinner tomorrow night with Derek, Lacey and James to look forward to. After all this, I think I’m feeling refreshed enough and ready to go back in for more chemo. Definitely.

I have a bike lock you can use… it is one of those that uses words as the combo. let me know

Oh ok, thanks Rhonda! We’ll see. I’m looking for something I may need a key lock with. But I’ll check it out. I don’t mean to be too picky, but I really just feel nervous about even having a lock now after someone cut through one.

Thanks!! You guys totally should. I could see Ashley riding something like this, and there were some super cool bikes there Ethan might like. Maybe they’ll give you a bulk discount?
